Depot for 20 million euro starts up in Melle (near Osnabrück)
The parcel delivery company Deutsche Paket Dienst (DPD) has started operation of its depot in Melle (near Osnabrück), costing 20 million euro. The new building was erected together with the investor, the company Movesta. Every day, DPD, whose major shareholder is the French postal service, handles around 100,000 parcels.

The conveyor belts have a sorting capacity of 15,000 parcels per hour, while 101 loading bays are available for long-distance transport - according the company the highest number in the entire DPD network. There are direct daily journeys to all DPD locations in Germany, and also to the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, France, England, Austria and Switzerland. The new installation in Melle is one of 74 DPD depots in Germany. DPD, with headquarters in Aschaffenburg, has three shareholders. In addition to DPD GeoPost (Deutschland) GmbH, which is totally owned by the French postal service "La Poste" with 83.34 per cent, the company belongs to DPD Systemlogistik GmbH (10.47 per cent) originating from the Dachser Group, and to DPD Zeitfracht GmbH (6.21 per cent).
